We stayed here while riding our bikes through SE Asia. We were allowed to store our bikes inside the foyer. The room was perfect, great aircon, clean, comfy bed and fridge. We were there on a Saturday night and the hotel was super busy. Nice seating around the pool for a beer. There is a shop onsite selling ice creams and beers drinks etc and reasonably priced. Cheap eats just to the right of the hotel. The buffet brekkie receives such negative reviews but it was perfect for us.
There was tea, coffee and cold water. Toast and jam and every 15 minutes a new Asian dish came out. There were fried noodles, fried rice, pork stir fry, vegetable stir fry, scrambled eggs and even pancakes so we were more than satisfied. The hotel seems a relatively new build and so is in reasonable condition. Also breakfast was average at best.
But for the price, quality of room, views, general willingness of service and excellent pool by the river bank, this hotel is above average for provincial Cambodia and any reviewer who grades it poorly has led far too pampered a life and clearly does not grasp the concept of cultural relativism. There seems to be little choice of good hotels in Pursat and this may be the best you can go for.
On arriving it quite an impressive large hotel, freshly painted with a huge entrance. The bell boy was charming and full of smiles throughout our stay. I would award him the best staff badge. Reception area is once again huge but like most of the hotel lacks any character, it's very non de script and bland The receptionists are functional but lack any warmth, perhaps down to the lack of training.
The room we booked was a deluxe one, for the price I thought it was worth upgrading , the room was "huge" It had a view over the pool if you craned your neck and the river. Bathroom was also huge. It's a bit off putting when there is a list in your room with a long list of charges for any damages and things missing The WiFi is not secure which is a big surprise for such a large hotel The pool, which is full size and by the side of the river is, perhaps the best feature although on the day we arrived a Sunday, there were dozens of children playing in it, rendering it a no go area.
